Sweden’s northernmost zoo and fun park can be found in Lycksele. The zoo specialises in Nordic fauna and most of those animals that can be found in Scandinavia are represented here - all year round.

The zoo is not only enjoyed by children, adults greatly appreciate what is on offer, even if they don’t always make it obvious. You definitely do not have to bring children to enjoy the zoo - there is plenty for all ages to see and do.

The paddocks are designed to resemble the animals’ natural habitat as much as possible. Wolves, lynx, muskox, bears, wolverines, wild boar....they are all here. There are also more common species such as moose, roe deer, reindeer and red deer. Feeding the animals is always a special occasion and it possible to watch the staff feed the muskox, seals and some of the predators.

The popular section of the zoo aimed at younger children contains smaller animals, which they are allowed to pet. Stroke a pig, hug a goat or ride on one of the zoo’s horses. Don’t forget, also, that there is a large adventure playground featuring rides, water games and much more.

Zoo becomes a Christmas park
During winter, the zoo transforms into a park celebrating winter and the festive season. Children will delight in visiting the special Christmas cinema, riding sleighs and, of course, meeting Santa Claus in his own cottage. If you have been good all year, make sure to give Santa your Christmas wish list. Take the opportunity to walk around the zoo and look at the animals during these dark days of winter. Lighted pathways and thick layers of snow create a magical atmosphere. Café Björnberget provides a warm refuge with hot and cold refreshments - try the seasonal Swedish glögg.

The shop is open midday - 5pm every day between 28/11 and 23/12, selling a wide range of souvenirs including Christmas gift ideas and decorations, toys and items for the home.

The zoo can host group events, regularly hosting staff meetings and marketing events and has conference facilities which can cater for up to 40 people.

It is possible to book a guided tour in Swedish or English. Please contact the office.
